About Us

Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy was established in the fall of 1997 to preserve the art of classical dance while providing professional instruction to aspiring professionals and recreational dancers in the community of Anchorage, Alaska and beyond.

The Academy is committed to excellence in classical dance education. The curriculum, based on the Vaganova Method, includes lessons in ballet technique, which includes pointe, pas de deux, character/historical dance, and repertoire. This method is the leading method used in producing the world ’s finest dancers.

Since our inception, the Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy has prepared many young aspiring dancers to dance professionally, and attend internationally recognized programs such as Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, School of American Ballet, Kirov Academy, The Juilliard School, the Royal Ballet School (UK), Elmhurst Ballet School (UK), London Studio Centre (UK), and Ecole de Danse Superieure de Cannes.

Students are accepted and placed into their appropriate level according to age, talent, physique (facility to execute classical dance), attitude, and musicality. Attention is given to introduce students to the discipline, physical demands and standards of the classical dancer.

Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy admits students of any race, color, or national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs and other school administered programs.

The Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy is funded in part by the citizens of the Municipality of Anchorage as appropriated by the Assembly, the Arts Advisory Commission, the Alaska Arts and Culture Foundation, the Rasmuson Foundation, the Manning Family Foundation, the Alaska State Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
