Ages 5+

All Ballet classes incorporates floor work to develop strength and flexibility, the basic ballet concepts of arm and leg positions, and across the floor to develop balance, rhythm, musicality, and coordination. Body placement and quality of movement is emphasized. All Ballet classes stress dance vocabulary and memory of steps, combinations, and performance pieces are also taught. Pointe work begins at Ballet IV if the students are ready. Student typically spend two years in each level. Two classes or more per week are recommended.

Bitty Bear Ballet

Ages 3-4

Ballet for the youngest ballerina! Bitty Bear Ballet focuses on developing coordination, strength, flexibility, musicality, and ballet technique while having fun. The season concludes with a  stage performance in the spring.

Pre Professional Program

Ages approximately 10+

The Pre-Professional Program at the Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy is an intense training program customized for serious young dancers designed to meet the highest artistic standards. The artistic staff trains dancers to develop a strong foundation in classical ballet with the discipline and confidence cultivated at ACBA. Students go on to pursue careers as professional dancers, or find success in other fields. As part of the Pre-Professional Program, students participate in a full schedule of evening dance classes, and perform in the ACAB's productions. Past productions have included Carnival of the Animals, Giselle, Aurora: A Tale of Northern Lights, and many more.


Dancers typically spend two years in each level.

Adult/Teen Ballet

Ages 14+

These classes are for individuals age 14 and up with little or no previous ballet experience. Classes move at a moderate pace so that all participants can learn the beginning technique concepts in a relaxed and non-competitive environment. Dancing improves posture and flexibility, and is a fun and different way to exercise. Participants may choose how many classes they attend per week.


Ages 7+

Modern dance is an ever - changing dance form that focuses on musicality and expression to shape movements and choreography. Structured technical exercises that condition the body for strength, coordination and flexibility are also incorporated. Student typically spend two years in each level. Modern is recommended to be taken with at least, one ballet class.


Ages 7+

All Jazz classes follow a traditional fun class structures. Students get to experiment with different rhythms and movement patterns. Time is spent learning the names and meanings of the steps as well as how to do them correctly. Students focus on building their Jazz vocabulary and memory of steps, combinations, and performance pieces. Student typically spend two years in each level.

Hip Hop

Ages 7+

This is a beginner/intermediate level class for students with little to no Hip Hop experience. This expressive dance is full of movement and personality. Learn Hip Hop steps, combinations, and performance pieces that will get you popping like a pro!

Mommy and Me

Ages 16 months-2 years

Improve your toddler’s muscle strength, balance, and coordination in this fun class that weaves together music and movement. For Moms/Dads and toddlers age 16 months to 2 years old.

Mommy and Me introduces children to the art of dance by promoting the exploration of creativity and expression through movement. Classes develop motor skills, balance, and coordination. Mommy and Me is a non-performing class that meets once a week for 45 minutes.
