For the first time ever we are doing a separate Bitty Bear Ballet (preschool) show. This means….
ONLY Bitty Bear Ballet classes, soloists, and invited dancers will perform in Alice's Adventures in Bittyland.
All dancers in Pre levels and up will perform in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
Do Bitty dancers still get to be in the show?
Yes, Bitty Bear Ballet dancers will perform in Alice's Adventures in Bittyland. They are performing in a shorter, more condensed version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Bittyland will be between 30-45 minutes.
What does that mean for Bitty dancers?
It means
less crowds
less hours of long rehearsals
less time away from parents
no late nights
and a more positive performing experience.
When and where is Alice’s Adventures in Bittyland?
It will be the same day as the Wonderland performance, May 18th, just earlier, at 11:00am. Bittyland will still be at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts in the Discovery Theatre.
Why are we doing it?
We are doing it to make the performance a more positive experience for the Bitty dancers. Recital is a lot. There are a ton of dancers backstage, a lot going on, and there are several long hours, sometimes the hours are too late for our Bitty dancers. It can be overwhelming and exhausting for our tiniest dancers. We want performing to be a positive experience. Giving the Bitty dancers a separate show allows them to perform on the big stage without the long rehearsals and overwhelming crowds. Our goal is to give the Bitty dancers a more age level appropriate show time with as much full show production value as possible.
If my dancer is not in a Bitty class, will they be in Alice’s Adventures in Bittyland?
Probably not, Pre-levels and up dancers will perform in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Soloists and a few other dancers will be invited to perform in Bittyland.
How do I know what show my dancer will be in?
If your dancer is enrolled in Bitty Bear Ballet then your dancer will perform in Alice’s Adventures in Bittyland. If your dancer is not enrolled in Bitty Bear Ballet but a higher level class (Pre levels and up) your dancer will perform in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Soloists and a few other dancers will be invited to perform in Bittyland.
Do I have to buy tickets to Bittyland and Wonderland?
Yes, all audience members must have a ticket.
Alice's Adventures in Bittyland
Join Alice on her fantastical journey to Bittyland. She'll attend a tea party, dance with the flowers, paint the roses red, and so much more. The Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy's Bitty Bear Ballet production of Alice's Adventures in Bittyland will dance across the stage and into your hearts as Bitty students showcase all they have learned from the Season.
