Why is Mommy (or Daddy) and Me dance class so important?
1. Bonding with your little one
Taking a Mommy and Me dance class with your tiny tot helps you connect on a without the pressure of feeding, crying and diapers! It allows you to relax and have fun with your child. You can laugh, play, and just have fun with each other, as well as, learn what your kiddo likes and dislikes with regards to play.
2. Friendships with other parents
As a parent it is important to make connections with other moms or dads, to continue to feel like part of a community, and to just get out of the house. Participating in a Mommy and Me dance classes allows parents to meet other parents. It allows you to learn from others, as well as, make new friends. It helps create a support system and validate some feelings of stress you may be experiencing.
3. Muscle strength and motor development
What better way to help your tiny tots muscles develop then a Mommy and Me dance class? Ballerinas aren’t born dancing on their toes. It takes years of training and dedication to develop those skills. Mommy and Me dance classes involve physical movement which develops muscles allowing for greater overall motor development. It also helps your tot improve coordination and balance.
4. Enhances social awareness
Mommy and Me dance classes allow tots (and adults) to interact with others. It exposes little ones to new people which means new sights, sounds, and interactions as well. It also allows your toddler to see how others will react to their behaviors which is critical for social development.
Participating in Mommy and Me helps tiny tots strengthen muscles. Through play, kids’ mobility increases which lead to greater independence. As a child develops his/her independence, they also boost their confidence. They feel a sense of pride and accomplishment when they are able to dance around with a fairy wand or make it through an obstacle course. The greater their confidence, the greater their development.

As kids play and watch others, they are taking in language. They are listening to what everyone says from the parents to the kids to the teachers. Mommy and Me dance classes involve physical movement. This helps children realize at a very young age that exercise is important for healthy development. Besides getting you out of the house and meeting new people, it also gets you up and physically active which helps release endorphins which improve mood and diminish the perception of pain!
